Instead of filing your nails in the usual way along the top edge of the nail youll need to thin out the entire area the acrylic covers. Once youve filed away the top layer of polish put your fingers in a shallow bowl of warm pure acetone.
The first thing you need to do before removing your acrylic nails is to clean them. Soak your nails in a bowl of acetone for 5 minutes. Since hot water will expand the acrylic nails and also loosen the chemical bond between them and the natural nails so you can get them off with less effort and less pain by using a physical removal method.
Next apply a small amount of acetone or nail polish remover to the tip of your nail. Make sure your nails are completely submerged and keep them in the bowl for at least 30 minutes. You may need to apply additional cuticle oil or non-acetone remover with the stick to completely release the fake nail.
You need a really good file for this. Theres two ways to apply acetone. After removing your fingers from the bowl gently peel the acrylic nails off.

An emery board would be useless. Redip your nails for five mins then. Pour some acetone-free nail polish remover into a bowl making sure to pour enough so your nails can be fully submerged and put your fingers in.
